SING SHAKESPEAREin association with the Friends of the Copped Hall Trust, at Copped Hall, where Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream was first performed in 1594A group-singing workshop day to explore musical settings of the songs and sonnets of Shakespeare as well as music inspired by the bard, from Arne and Purcell to Porter (Kiss me Kate) and Bernstein (West Side Story) Enjoy singing a huge variety of Shakespearean songs together on mid-summer’s day, in this beautiful venue, itself steeped in history. As well as exploring repertoire, Arbutus Music courses include voice coaching, ideas and tips and the opportunity to build group singing skills, including part-singing for those who wish. All done in a fun and light-hearted way, these events are as suitable for those new to group singing as they are for old hands who fancy a change and enjoy trying new repertoire whilst honing a few skills along the way.
